Registration applications have been sent out for the 2009 spring season to all new and returning players of the Minuteman Babe Ruth Baseball League. The leagues success has resulted in an increase in the number of new players from last spring and that trend is expected to continue into the ’09 spring season. The growth of the league might require us to expand the number of teams that we have entered into the league. This expansion will necessitate the league to look at potentially re-drafting our existing teams so that all are of equal competitive strength.

This year our spring program has at least 2 openings for managers of teams. There will also be openings for coaches. Please call Mike Chambers 897-6363 if you are interested in volunteering for these positions.

The MBCC is always looking for volunteers for the concession stand and field work. The concession stand is vital to our organizations fundraising and it keeps the cost of programs down. It also allows us to purchase the best equipment for your player and continued improvements to the field. The goal of MBCC is to have Crowe Park one of the best fields in the area. Last year the dugouts were built over the winter and they were enjoyed by the players. The new addition also enhanced our playing field. This past fall a sprinkler system was installed at Crowe Park and was funded by the Maynard CPC. Our goal this spring is to get Crowe Park in great playing shape for the spring and summer seasons.

Last years spring and summer programs were a success for our programs. The spring program had 2 teams from our organization play in the championship games for their divisions. The summer Lou Tompkins programs were also a success. The senior division team (16 -19) played in a trophy weekend and just missed playing in the tournament of champions. The newly formed A division team (15 – 16) played in both trophy weekends and played in the tournament of champions round and had their hopes for a championship stopped because of several days of rain. The B division team (13 – 14) also made the trophy weekends and went to the tournament of champions but came up short. This team improved greatly from the year before. The MBCC will apply for the C division (13 year old) this summer if there is strong interest from this age level and the numbers support a team.
